CFC Study Summer Training

Researchers at Florida State University would like to invite you to participate in their online research studies. Your participation in any of these studies is voluntary, and you have the option to withdraw at any time.

These studies comply with the Florida State University and International Review Board (IRB) guidelines for the protection of human subjects.

The study, headed by Amelia Welch (doctoral student), Dr. Myriam Rudaz, Dr. Thomas Ledermann, and Dr. Gregory Seibert, includes a 6-week Compassion for Couples (CfC) training and the completion of associated surveys at three time points. This study is open to all adult couples who are 18 years of age or older and have been in a committed romantic relationship for at least six months.

Participation in this study will include the completion of three surveys: an initial survey, a post-training survey (6 weeks), and a follow-up survey 8 weeks after the end of the training. Each survey takes roughly 20-30 minutes to complete. All three surveys will be sent by email.

The Compassion for Couples (CfC) training comprises of six 2.5-hour live, online, group sessions once per week over the course of six weeks, 30-minutes of self-paced, online module work per week, and 30-minutes of home practice per day over the span of six sequential weeks. This training will begin with a live, online meeting on Tuesday, May 10th, and continue through Tuesday, June 14th. All weekly meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:00 PM EST.

By participating in this research, you and your partner can receive the CfC training for a combined fee of $300, which otherwise costs about $800 per couple. There will be an initial charge of $300 per person. Couples that attend all weekly meetings and complete all three surveys will receive refunds of $150 per person, payable by Paypal or electronic check. More details on payment and refunds are available in the consent form linked below.

The training will be run by the program developer, Michelle Becker, and her team. Please click the link below to register to participate in the study by filling out the informed consent. Spots are limited and cannot be guaranteed to all that register. You will receive an email within the next seven days whether you got a spot to participate in the study once you and your partner both registered. Requests for initial payments will be sent out 1 week prior to the training start date using Paypal. You do not need a Paypal account to process this payment.
