Dr. Jennifer Steiner Wins McKnight Junior Faculty Fellowship

Jennifer Steiner
Dr. Jennifer Steiner, assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology, was one of just six FSU faculty members to receive a McKnight Junior Faculty Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship recognizes excellence in teaching and research by both women and underrepresented minorities. As part of the fellowship, Steiner will receive a one-year sabbatical with the purpose of helping her research as well helping her secure tenure and promotion. Steiner’s research focuses on the effects of alcohol on the body, especially on the skeletal muscles. “This award supports the completion of research activities and allows faculty to improve teaching methods and advance their careers substantially,” Steiner said. “Time is at a premium and when a faculty member is able to gain time back to pursue their projects forward progress is most easily achieved.”
