Dr. Rao Received Two USDA Grants to Develop Food Safety Tests

Qinchun Rao NFES Associate Professor Dr. Qinchun Rao recently received two USDA grants to fund the development of food safety tests. Both grants are funded by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Agriculture and Food Research Initiative. One $474,000 grant will be used to help develop a test to detect shellfish cross-contamination to protect those with known allergies. Another $490,000 grant will be used to develop testing for adulterated meat, a collaborative effort with University of Central Florida Assistant Professor Xiaohu Xia.
