Compassion for Couples Study

About Compassion for Couples Study

The study, headed by Amelia Welch (doctoral candidate), Dr. Myriam Rudaz, Dr. Thomas Ledermann, and Dr. Gregory Seibert, intends to explore the function of self-compassion in couples. There are many ways to get involved in this research, with all paths including the completion of three questionnaires over the course of 14 weeks.

We encourage you to take a look around this website to discover which option is best for you. Please reach out to the team with any questions or concerns-we are excited to hear from you!

Researchers at Florida State University would like to invite you to participate in their online research studies. Your participation in any of these studies is voluntary, and you have the option to withdraw at any time. These studies comply with the Florida State University and International Review Board (IRB) guidelines for the protection of human subjects. This study is open to all adult couples who are 18 years of age or older and have been  in a committed romantic relationship for at least six months.

Participation in this study will include the completion of three surveys: an initial survey, a second survey (7 weeks), and a follow-up survey 8 weeks after the second survey. Each survey takes roughly 20-30 minutes to complete. All three surveys will be sent by email.

Couples where both partners complete all three surveys will be entered into a lottery to win a free, live online Compassion for Couples Training (approximately $800 value) led by the developer Michelle Becker and her team (see here for details about the training)
